Collections Trust, UK is the UK's independent organisation for collections. CT is an independent registered charity with over 30 years of experience. It leads on cultural collections management and the cultural digital agenda in the UK. We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations both nationally and internationally, including museums, libraries, archives, community archives, higher education institutions, and government agencies and departments.

 Its flagship programmes are:

  • Culture Grid (http://www.culturegrid.org.uk) – The UK national focus which provides access to, and publication of, cultural heritage information;
  • Collections Link (http://www.collectionslink.org.uk) – brings together resources,networks, case studies, suppliers, training opportunities, interactives which helps thecultural heritage professional do their job. Of relevance is the section on SustainingDigital which gives access to materials and organisations in the areas of digitalpreservation and interoperability.

CT has links with a large number of cultural heritage organisations including JISC, UKOLN, ICOM, CIDOC, Getty, CHIN, the Collections Australia Network, and the DEN Foundation in the Netherlands.

In addition to its flagship programmes CT is actively involved in many programmes in the field of cultural management, digital heritage, and digital libraries. Other current projects include collaborating with culture-sector organisations to set out Principles for Linked Data in the Culture Sector, and working with memory organisations to aggregate 2012 Cultural Olympiad content through the Culture Grid.


Role in the project

CT is task T3.2 leader in WP3 on Standards and interoperability and will contribute to WP2.
